Outasight "It's Like That"

Outasight has released his newest track entitled “It’s Like That” which is produced by Cook Classics. Outasight always has a great hip-hop, pop, & indie sound that seems to mesh perfectly. A lot of that has to do with the production of course but it’s a good track nonetheless. Check it out below.

Solar Bears – “Cub” (Keep Shelly in Athens Remix)

The duo from Greece, known as Keep Shelly in Athens, are back with another hauntingly good remix track. This time they have taken the track “Cub”, originally from Solar Bears, and applied their unique style to it. The original track was already downtempo and the remix just adds that “chill-wave” like vibe to it. The remix builds upon the chillwave to become something even stronger though. Check out the remix and original below.

Star Slinger

Hailing from a small village in Nottinghamshire, Darren now lives in the heart of Manchester, UK. A place home to many of his idols. Darren started out life as a musician by reading guitar chord books, toying with Casio keyboards, begging his mother to buy him turntables, and spending his learning allowance on building a computer solely for music production at the age of 14.
By 2007 he had two 12” vinyl releases to his name in the dance music arena. One of those an EP, championed by Paul Van Dyk, one appearing on a guest mix on Radio 1. However Dance Music became somewhat limited to Darren. The 4/4 kick drums, syncopated basslines and 8 minute 12” mixes became too easy to churn out and all this time Darren had a vinyl collection which boasts everything from forgotten UK soul bands to Cocteau Twins to De La Soul. It is a collection built upon years of devotion to dusty second-hand record stores adorning his (back then) rural surroundings.
It is this eclectic mix that has no doubt lead him go on to become a producer of beat tapes. The new Volume 1 LP samples everything from child-fronted reggae bands (Musical Youth) to funk (Parlaiment) to 90’s soul (Mint Condition), to 80’s rock (Big Country) and more. The 11 track release has an uplifting vibe, and work on Volume 2 is well underway.

Long Arm

Long Arm took up music when he was a kid. In music school he studied how to play piano. He was really impressed by a DJ’s perfomance on one of the music channels when he saw it for the first time. It was difficult to get a turntable back then, so Long Arm and his friend started making them from old soviet phonographs/record players and collecting vintage vinyl records. Long Arm devoted all his free time to listening to those records. He spent his university years writing his own tracks, playing in various bands and participating in different projects. After his graduation he began working in Intelligent genre. His lifelong passion for jazz influenced his whole music style.

Cecil Otter of Doomtree - 1999

"1999" is a track from Rebel Yellow, his first official full-length album, and it is Cecil at his finest. He's a prophet turned cardshark. He's striking matches on his whiskers and lighting up your cigarette. He's buying the saloon a round, then conducting their ensemble with a loaded pistol and a whisky on the rocks.

Cecil Otter of Doomtree - 1999 by Strange Famous Records

Cecil Otter is a compelling musician for the same reasons he’s good with cards. The technique runs on charm, patience, intuition, and precision.

Cecil is one of the founding members of Doomtree. As an emcee he’s admired for his lyric, cinematic style. He writes about love, vengeance, and redemption—and the spaces where the three convene. His narratives ride on his imagery: sepia flickers of loners, beauties, ghosts, and vagabonds.

As a producer, his sound is nostalgic. He features swooning guitar lines, masterful drums, vinyl crackle, and distant voices. The effect is melodic, often melancholic, and seems to draw on the sentiment of another, more romantic era.

Cecil’s fascination with rap music started when his big sister ran away from home. She left a box of rap cassettes beneath her bed, all intentionally mislabeled to prevent confiscation by her parents. Easy E with a Jon Bon Jovi sticker. N.W.A as Michael Bolton. At eight, Cecil memorized every word, intent on impressing her when she returned.

A few years later, Cecil learned to skate, went semi-pro and spent hours practicing with high school friends Stef (P.O.S.) and Johnny (Paper Tiger). Kai (MK Larada) made the occasional visit, often with a camera in hand. The same varied cast of characters began making music together—some rap, some punk, some rock—and by 2000 the name Doomtree surfaced.

Saigon - "Too Long" (feat. Black Thought)

Saigon (born Brian Carenard, 1978) is an African-American rapper.

Born in Newburgh, New York, He spent his upbringing moving between immediate and extended family members in Spring Valley, New York and Brooklyn as well as parts of New Jersey and Virginia. He cites his mother’s inattention towards him due to the new arrival of numerous younger siblings as being the catalyst for his roughly 15-year rebellious period. At age 11 he began selling marijuana and at age 13 he had joined in a neighborhood gang. By the time Saigon reached 15 he had already been involved in at least two shootings for which he received jail time. This would be his home for the majority of the next several years of his life as he was “raised” in the New York Penal System. While incarcerated, he took the stage name Saigon from the influential Vietnam War book “Bloods” by Wallace Terry, which he read while he was serving time in prison.

He is currently signed to Just Blaze’s Fort Knox Entertainment record label and is working on his major label debut entitled The Greatest Story Never Told for a November 2006 release, which has now been postponed to a later unannounced date.

STALLEY – THE TUNE UP

Stalley "The Tune Up" from Kellen Dengler on Vimeo.

Hailing from a state that hasn’t seen a national championship in over 60 years, Massillon native Stalley has always been adamant on bringing the title back home. Leaving to play Division 1 basketball in Michigan, his time out there would be brief after an injury. But his goal to bring a champion back home would lead him to New York to pursue his new focus: music. In 2008, he connected with Ohio’s own, Terry Urban on the mixtape release “Goin Ape” as well as toured opening for Mos Def. Currently Stalley has been working with ALIFE and GFCnewyork, the collective responsible for the success of Mickey Factz. He’s recently released his 2nd project titled MadStalley: The Autobiography where he pens his journey and experiences over re-worked Madlib productions. Massillon’s Stallion is putting his whole state on his back, as he rides to leave a trail for the voices and stories of those unheard. Stalley says, “The theme music of champions is now back here in Ohio. Now all Lebron has to do is get us that trophy so we can celebrate.”

Ellie Goulding- Lights (Bassnectar Remix)

What started back in the mid-nineties as an experiment fusing youth culture and social action has turned into a multi-faceted, multi-faced creature called Bassnectar. It is the brainchild of Lorin Ashton, and it exists as an open-sourced musical project that is as diverse as it is heavy, as raw as it is meticulous, and as fierce as it is imaginative.

Bassnectar combines sound and force with weight while spanning the spectrum of sonic style, covering every genre imaginable, and smashing it all into a collision of intense, wobbling basslines, hypnotic soundscapes, and pretty much anything that strikes his fancy. He calls the end product “omnitempo maximalism,” which basically means no rules, no limitations, and no hesitation in fusing the familiar with the strange or the classic with the cutting edge.

Whether remixing, collaborating, writing, DJing, performing live or working on constant social networking, Bassnectar’s music is the lure and social impact is the very sincere intention. According to Ashton, “We are so blessed, and so deeply fortunate to be alive and awake right now…it’s a basic truth, but it’s very powerful. I think privilege confers responsibility, and Bassnectar is a reflection of that opportunity to give back; the motion of my cells bouncing back at the world.”

Chase & Status 'Blind Faith' feat. Liam Bailey Official Video

Not many artists / producers can count Jay Z, Snoop Dogg and Pharell as fans as well as drum and bass’ finest Andy C, Hype and Pendulum; enjoy heavy rotation in the hands of dub-step royalty such as N-Type and Skream; and have each release enthusiastically supported by Annie Mac and Zane Lowe? This is what Saul Milton and Will Kennard, producing under the name Chase & Status, have achieved in 5 years, and the highlight of their young career so far has been their debut LP ‘More Than Alot’ which has helped turned them into a unique urban phenomenon, and the biggest crossover act to come out of the underground since Pendulum.

They met at Manchester University through their mutual love of drum and bass in the mid nineties and have DJ’d ever since, waiting until 2004 for their first production, a remix for Future Cut (better known these days for their production work with Lily Allen). It was followed by a series of drum and bass anthems for the biggest underground labels including ‘Duppy Man’ for Breakbeat Kaos (home of Pendulum’s platinum selling debut album) in 2005 and ‘The Druids’ EP for DJ Zinc’s trendsetting Bingo label a year later. Their production work for Jenna G’s ‘In Love’ the same year earned them their first award, ‘Best Single’, as voted by over 40,000 listeners for the BBC 1Xtra Drum & Bass Awards.

Despite a high volume of releases on Ram Records and constant DJ work, Chase & Status managed to mastermind and release their debut album last year.

Wasalu Muhammad Jaco (born February 16, 1982 in Chicago, Illinois), better known by his stage name Lupe Fiasco, is a Grammy Award-winning American hip-hop artist and producer.
