Joywave - “Betelgeuse” Ft. Miike Snow & LCD Soundsystem - Mashup

Joywave drops off one of those perfect mashups featuring two greats, LCD Soundsystem & Miike Snow on this joint titled, “Betelgeuse.” The tracks flow seamlessly together, get ready to jam.

Mr. Little Jeans - The Suburbs

One way or another we’ve all heard of Arcade Fire. What we haven’t heard is too many great covers of their songs. When I say ‘Great Cover’ I mean someone completely transforming the song and making it their own. Mr. Little Jeans (Monica Birkenes) is a Norwegian singer from London who records in LA (she’s everywheerrrrree). She’s the hottest thing on Hypem and rightfully so. Her cover of Arcade Fire’s ‘Suburbs’ takes the original track, twists it through a vortex of electronic and ambience, spits it out onto Jack Nicholsons stomach where it rebounds into the air, catches the jet stream and descends into your ear with t

Now lets get down with the chill and give the doubters a mean grill with the best cover I’ve heard in quite some time.

Hip hop shuffle - Tuesday Night edition.

Got it all remixes:

QuESt - Let It Out

Brand new offering from the wily Miami lyricist QuEST - "Let It Out" - the first from his upcoming mixtape How Thoughtful 2.

Chiddy Bang – Peanut Butter & Swelly (Mixtape)

A little late on this one but here goes Chiddy Bang’s new mixtape “Peanut Butter & Swelly.

We Run The Night (Designer Drugs Remix) - Tonite Only (HD)

Designer Drugs are starting to really bring in some competition for the electro mix. Great remix done by the upcoming DJ duo.

SposhRock Remixs

After close work with other aspiring artists for over a year, SposhRock strived off into his own direction finding himself in the rare group of producers remixing tracks to an unheard of point of originality. This originality is based on genre swapping and bending to the point of undefinable measures. OR, simply: NuFunkInDiscoChillectroWave.

Deadmau5-Two New Small Mixes

If only they were longer, if only, if only. Deadmau5 dropped two new small little mixes (previews most likely for bigger fish coming our way.) The first is almost a minute and a half. It’s very pop electro sounding. Enjoy.

today, im french by fuckmylife

The second track is almost the first one but just a little bit different sounding (more of a kick) and not nearly as long or disco sounding. Enjoy.

Yesterday, before i was french (and cut) by fuckmylife

J. Cole – How High

Have a new or unreleased J. Cole song from an unofficial mixtape called ‘We Got A Buzz Now” that drop today. The song final destination is unknown for now, track is smooth with a nice mellow vibe to it and doesn’t disappoints.

Consequence – “My Way Home”

As most of you are now aware; Gil Scott-Heron passed away a few days ago and it was definitely a huge blow to the artist community. And, I say artist because Gill Scott inspired many people across all types of artist expressions. He also inspired multiple generations of people with his style and poetic ability. So, its fitting that many of these artist and musicians have paid homage by to him for his accomplishments and today I came across one from Consequence. He uses the beat for “My Way Home” which was originally produced by Kanye and contains samples from Gil Scott. Enjoy.

J. Cole - Return of Simba (prod. Elite & J. Cole)

J. Cole once again was generous enough to liberate another track from his twitter and this one is called “Return of Simba”. Looks like cole is not slowing down one bit, what artist you know has a lion king sample on their song besides this guy and just kills it ? This is not a single. Check It Out And Enjoy.

Blackmill - Spirit of Life (Full Version)

Blackmill continues to amaze me with a style of dubstep that few are attempting, melodic dubstep. Most dubstep producers are taking to the rave scene, throwing together aimless tracks and trying to pull off the most progressive sound. And as much as dubstep is the experimental hotspot right now, a focus is still necessary in putting it all together, though that focus may still seem a bit odd to anyone outside the dubstep scene.

Props to Blackmill for deviating from the norm, even though it may seem more “normal” than the actual dubstep scene right now.

Blackmill - Spirit of Life (Full Version) by Blackmill

Mimosa

First thought that struck my mind when I heard TigranMimosa was “oo, more PL style goodness.” Mimosa doesn’t sound exactly like Pretty Lights, at least compared to others, but each pulls from the most obscure sounds to that electro-heavenliness and constructs something into a rich & healthy composition that defines what electronica is to me. Mimosa 58Degress MiMoSA ·· 58 Degrees These aren’t just some stale-ass beats taken from free packs off some torrent site, this shit screams soul.

Mike Posner - The Scientist (coldplay cover)

Mike Posner dished out some new material for us recently. This time he’s remade a version of Coldplay’s piano ballad, “The Scientist”. This song was somewhat of an obsession for me when it first released. It’s such a delicate and beautiful piece of work. Admittedly I was concerned a bit when I read Posner was releasing a cover, but in all fairness he does a respectable job with it. You can judge for yourself with a listen below.

Trae tha Truth feat. Meek Mill & Pusha T - So Far To Go

Trae’s gearing up to release his *Undisputed* mixtape which will be dropping this Monday. This mixtape is being released to help build up anticipation for his upcoming LP titled *Street King* which is scheduled to drop June 28th. “So Far To Go” is off of this upcoming mixtape and features Meek Mill & Pusha T. Check it out below!

Few "new" Tracks for the weekend..

Tayyib Ali - Do It

Arguably the fastest growing young Hip-Hop artist in the biz right now, Tayyib Ali is at it again. The kid dropped the Video for the track “Do It” a week ago from today. The track is from his mix tape Keystone State Of Mind that dropped a few weeks ago. With a sick flow and music that’s that fresh type of Hip-Hop seemingly geared towards the optimistic, Tayyib Ali isn’t something to listen to if you want to be angry because all it’s gonna do is put a smile on your face. He’s like the Matt & Kim of Hip-Hop. He’s the freshest young face in the Hip-Hop scene right now. He’s Tayyib Ali, and if you aren’t familiar with him then get that way- the kid is blowing up.

Communist Future (Tyler the Creator & Neutral Milk Hotel mashup)

So, it’s been announced that GOBLIN has already brought Tyler, The Creator 50,000 sold units already. The reviews for the album are somewhat lukewarm and I can personally say I don’t “feel” every track on the ablum but it’s definitely an ambitious and complete release. Tyler’s will only improve from here and it’s a good start. Now, more and more mashups are appearing featuring Tyler and the OF crew. This one, done by Cyclops Rock, pits Tyler’s “Yonkers” against Neutral Milk Hotel‘s 1998 track “Communist Daughter”. Crazy combination right? Well it works out perfectly. We posted this track in a Mashup Monday a while back but figure some may of overlookd it. Enjoy.

Blackmill Dubstep Remixs

A few tracks from Robert Card aka. Blackmill

Daft Punk - End Of Line (Meridian Remix)

The Beatles / Oasis (REMIX by "Daft Beatles") - A Day in the Wonderwall

Daft Beatles (Jonas C) put this up when he posted his demo version of “A Day in the Wonderwall” – an Oasis // Beatles mashup – and I couldn’t agree with the quote more. Lennon’s voice goes perfectly with this tune and mixes well with Liam Gallagher’s. But as much as I enjoyed it, the track still has some kinks to work out.

Lincoln Lawyer

Lincoln Lawyer is kinda like a newage Primal Fear with a few more twists and a happy ending we’ve grown to accept in movies nowadays (for better or worse). But I’m not here to talk about the film, as good as it was I gotta rep its well picked soundtrack.

The first track to catch my attention was Gangstarr’s “Moment of Truth”. I love when movies put in some quality hip-hop, and although there were some good tracks before this in the movie, Guru’s smooth vocals really brought me to attention – he’s got one real memorable voice. But one track, even more than Gangstarr’s, sealed the deal and made sure I featured the Lincoln Lawyer soundtrack.

Lincoln Lawyer’s remix of “California Soul”, featuring Ya Boy, is simply spot on. When I heard the tune at the end of the film, I thought it was a good choice, but when I heard Ya Boy’s lyrics drop, it took it to another level. It’s a damn fine edit over this classic.

Future Islands - In the Fall

Future Islands (formed 2006) is a synthpop band based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are often associated with (and tour with) bands affiliated with Wham City. These include Videohippos, Santa Dads, Blood Baby, OCDJ, Adventure, Dan Deacon, Weekends (band), Double Dagger, as well and others.
History

The band met and formed in Greenville, NC while studying art at East Carolina University. At first it was Art Lord & the Self-Portraits, which was composed of J. Gerrit Welmers, Samuel T. Herring, William Cashion, Adam Beeby, and Kymia Nawabi. That band lasted from February 2003 until Fall of 2005. In 2006, Cashion, Herring, and Welmers formed Future Islands with Erick Murillo, bassist for The Kickass.
Future Islands released Little Advances in April 2006 and a self-released split CD with Welmers’ solo project Moss of Aura in January 2007. In July 2007 they recorded their debut album “Wave Like Home” with Chester Endersby Gwazda at Backdoor Skateshop in Greenville, NC. After a Halloween party in 2007, Erick quit the band. Upset! the Rhythm released Wave Like Home in the Summer of 2008. The cover art was designed by Kymia Nawabi, a former member of Art Lord & the Self-Portraits.
In 2009 the band signed to Chicago independent record company Thrill Jockey.

XV - Swervin Lunice Remix

Lunice let this one go a few days ago and I would have to be pretty selfish not to share it with you. The original “Swervin’” was a good mixtape cut but this remix makes the song single worthy. Has XV heard this yet? He needs to and I guarantee he will soon enough.

Lunice and XV need to link up for an original collaboration. They sound damn good together.

Telemachus - Ferndale Road (Abridged Video Version)

Telemachus borrows his name from the greek mythology figure, of the same name, who was the son of Odysseus and Penelope. And the actual word “Telemachus” means “far from battle” which is perfect for the type of music that this producer creates. His music is always chill and never aggressive. It’s a mixture of downtempo and hip-hop drums. And, it’s very cinematic in many ways just with his usage of various audio from all types of sources.

Thao & Mirah

Thao and Mirah both often go by their first names only. That is mostly why they wanted to make a record together. Other reasons include: they are friends, they were finally in San Francisco at the same time, and both joyfully welcomed a short departure from their respective successful solo careers to collaborate on a project.

Mirah (K records) started making music in the late 90’s in the Pacific Northwest, becoming a much beloved indie fixture there and well beyond. Her 5 celebrated solo records and multiple previous collaborations have brought her together with an eclectic assortment of dj’s, baltic music enthusiasts, entomologists and multi-media artists.

Thao signed to Kill Rock Stars in 2006 and has since released two records with her band, The Get Down Stay Down, to wide critical and popular acclaim. She has fast established herself as a well-loved songwriter and performer in and out of the indie realm.

The two enlisted dear friend and colleague Merrill Garbus (Tune-Yards, 4AD) as co-producer, guest musician (and for one song, guest writer) and the aptly titled album Thao and Mirah was recorded over 2 freewheeling weeks for Kill Rock Stars this past summer.

Thao and Mirah each wrote a new batch of beautiful songs which were jointly performed and produced by the three with some help from fine Bay Area friends.

Hugo - 99 Problems

Edge Of My Seat

Here’s a new track from the singer/songwriter Jon Solo. Jon brings a melodic, organic feel to the music and Incomparable Shakespeare and Probe DMS add some slick verses. The song’s about a game of cat and mouse with a girl.

e-dubble - Changed My Mind

New song from e-dubble!

Ellie Goulding - Heartbeats (Cosmonaut Grechko edit)

Ellie Goulding’s cover of “Heartbeats” was perhaps the most beautiful thing I’ve heard this century. Cosmonaut Grechko made a bold move in messing with something so excellent, but it worked out. His subtle touches give this song a little more bounce and a lighthearted vibe that makes the track less heavy. Now I can finally listen to it on my summer playlist without getting all emo. :P

R3K Remix-Kid Cudi- Falling Star

By stripping the instrumental and lead vocals of Dan Black’s “Symphonies” and replacing them with a lucid version of Florence and the Machine’s “Cosmic Love”, R3K (aka Riley Keating) breathes new life into a past Kid Cudi feature. This has a nice feel to it and a version I personally prefer over the original. Another tune to shuffle into your summertime playlist. Get familiar with “Falling Star” below.

Robyn - "Call Your Girlfriend" Feed me Remix

UK based electro dubstep group Feed Me released this simply amazing dubstep mix of Robyn's "Call your Girlfriend earlier this week. Robyn's vocals pair incredibly well with the production work in this remix.

New Basement Jaxx is Horrifyingly Good

Here’s the climactic track from Basement Jaxx‘s debut as film score composers, taken from Joe Cornish’s upcoming action-comedy Attack the Block. The film looks something like a South London Shaun of the Dead, and it’s easy picturing baddies getting bashed to Jaxx’s chubby hybrid of dubstep growl and bagpipes. The song sounded even more exciting when the film’s trailer accidentally started playing in the background, the surest sign the Jaxx-bros might’ve found their new calling.

Rusko - "Everyday" (Official Music Video)

I knew "Everyday" was going to be an absolute hit when I first heard Rusko break it out last year. The female vocals mixed with Rusko's powerful womp make it a track you can't stop headbangin' to. This video just dropped on IFC.com and it f-ing awesome. Really cool visuals with cuts that match the rhythm of the song.

Neon Hitch- Silly Girl (Brenton Duvall Remix ft. Wiz Khalifa)

Marriage (Star Slinger Remix)

Star Slinger made a remix of the Gold Panda track “Marriage” a few months back but now an official video has been produced for that remix. The song is impressive and the visuals used for this video are equally impressive. Ultimately all your senses will be in orgasm mode when you experience this combination. I should also mention it’s a pretty trippy combo too. Check out the video below.

Washed Out - Eyes Be Closed (HQ)

Washed Out is Ernest Greene, a young guy from Perry, Georgia, USA who makes bedroom synthpop that sounds blurred and woozily evocative, like someone smeared Vaseline all over an early OMD demo tape, then stayed up all night trying to recreate what they heard.

There’s a sense of longing and distance in Greene’s somber, filtered vocals, but it’s what he does compositionally that makes Washed Out stand out. Backed by gently pulsing, Balearic-tinged disco, Greene’s voice takes on a new dimension. Reminiscent of groups like The Glass and the Chromatics, Washed Out is the music to end your night with, when the city is quiet and the walk home long.

Tyga feat. Adele - Reminded

Tyga’s smooth track “Reminded” featuring the lovely Adele track appears on Tyga’s “Black Thoughts Vol. 2” tape that recently dropped.

Clams Casino

Clams Casino is a genius when it comes to instrumentals and “beyond this earth” when it comes to his spaced out hip-hop beat production. This New Jersey native has been separating himself from the rest of the fray. His beats are so hazy and surreal where it almost feels like a blend of chillwave and hip-hip with a little ambient thrown in. It’s a perfection fusion. What’s even more interesting are the videos that come out for his instrumental tracks.

Grieves- Bloody Poetry

Grieves is gearing up to release his first album on Rhymesayers. He’s in great company, and the young Seattle emcee is a nice addition. He’s got an introspective, artistic, honest vibe that sets him apart from many of the young rappers making noise right now. “Bloody Poetry” rides over an organic piano-laced bounce, courtesy of his producer Budo. Together/Apart will be out June 21st.

Warm Gun - All Real

Here is the first single off of the mixtape album “For Days” released by Brian Chinn, aka, Warm Gun. Chinn is a 20-year old producer/singer/MC out of Seattle, WA. His music features elements of indie rock, pop, electronica, and alternative, most of which are prevalent in this track. ”For Days” features production by To Infinity and can be download for free at his web, http://thisiswarmgun.com/

Toro y Moi – “Made In Bed” Mix

Toro y Moi has done a 37-min mix for modularpeople.com for their “modcast” series and has called the mix “Made In Bed”. Now, of course you are going to have high expectactings from a Toro and let me guarantee you that you wont be let down. He’s got great tastes in music and you’ll find a nice little assorement of genres and moods as you travel through this mix. You start off with some slow reggae and the trip just gets better and better and ever so mellow. This is a perfect mix for a lazy Saturday and I hope you sober up from last night.

Jay Electronica in Nepal "Dimethyltryptamine"

Jay Electronica, the mystery, has just been featured a video for his track “Dimethyltryptamine”. The title of the track refers to the chemical DMT which your body naturally produces when you dream. Jay Electronica admits he wrote this song after a crazy dream and after watching something on TV about the JFK assasination. Jay is always deep and it might take many listens to get the point he’s making. Now, this video supposedly isnt “official” and not approved by Jay. You can see the video made by Jay too.
