MiMOSA

MiMOSA is a Dubstep/Glitch Hop/Grim DJ and producer from San Francisco, California. He began to Dj and produce at the age of 17, and his fame has been growing rapidly. He’s performed with top notch artists like Benga, Skream, Rusko, Datsik, Glitch Mob, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar and Flying Lotus. He isn’t huge now, but he’s pretty close. His ability to combine genres with such ease and do so with such precision and master has earned him sold out shows in New York and California.

The Glitch Mob

The Glitch Mob is a three piece Electronic/Glitch Hop group from Los Angeles, California. The band has been dropping the dirty dirty since early 2006 and hasn’t looked back. Most well known for their live performances and bass throbbing mix tapes, the group is looked upon by some to be the face of the Glitch Hop scene. They released their first album in 2010 titled Drink The Sea, debuted on the iTunes Electronic Chart at number five.

Fullhaus - Gucci Gucci Gucci (Kito, Kraeyshawn, Gucci Mane)

This mash up stood out to me from some of the terribly woven together tracks out on the web, Fullhaus is new on the scene with, “Gucci Gucci Gucci.” Kreayshawn vs. Kito and Reija Lee vs. Gucci Mane & Yatta Mann come through on the roster. It has a similar tone to some of the dubstep out there like Pantyraid who love to mix a hip hop sample in.

Robyn – Call Your Girlfriend (Kaskade Dub)

This tune was just released by Kaskade, who has been one of the biggest names in American house music for quite sometime. This version is better than the vocal mix, it’s got a bigger drop and all the little details can be savored. The original Robyn song has been out for a while and has been remixed by artists all over every style imaginable, as is often the case with synthy songs with good female vocals. This mix stands out in my mind, probably just because I love Kaskade, but also because of how well the minimalist vocals flow with the tune as a whole. Hope y’all enjoy it as much as I did.

Ghostface Killah, Sean Price & Trife Diesel – Laced Cheeba

Well well, what do we have here? Yes, a track from the highly anticipated Wu-Tang compilation album Legendary Weapons, which drops July 26th. Preview track below, and click image to download track at the jump.

Ghostface Killah, Sean Price & Trife Diesel – Laced Cheeba

UPDATE: Just stumbled across this track on SoundCloud by Sixfingerz and was utterly impressed by this remix and thought it would fit well with this post.

Apollo Brown "Tao Te Ching"

Apollo Brown, the ever working Detroit producer, recently released his Clouds instrumental album. Now, even before releasing this album, Apollo has been busy all year doing production for various acts and he’s also about to release a new project he is working on with fellow MelloMusicGroup member, Hassaan Mackey. But before doing this new release; he decided to put out a video for the track “Tao Te Ching” off the Clouds instrumental album. The video features very relaxing Tao beliefs and imagery. First, Taoist mountains appear on yellowed parchment before calligraphic I-Ching symbols are drawn, slowly creating the entire Taoist wheel of hexagrams. Finally, the short animated piece evolves from a spinning I-Ching wheel into a spiral galaxy, rotating amongst the stars. The video is short but is a perfect accompaniment to the chillness of the track. Enjoy and pick up the album.

And a few tracks..

Rasco- "Home" (New Official Video)

Cali Agent Rasco is working on his new album entitled Yesterday Is Not Tomorrow. Here’s “Home”, the first official video from the upcoming project. The track is produced by Cache and sounds dope if you ask me, looking forward to the album!

Bob Marley - Forever Loving Jah (Dub)

Obviously I don’t need to say much about this artist…no..i mean “legend”. His musical reach is beyond grasp. I wouldn’t doubt that his music is traveling through the cosmos, as we speak, and will be one of the first major musical sounds heard on some distant alien planet. Hopefully this is true because the aliens will surely pick up on the fact that Bob is about peace and understanding. Ok. Not sure where my mind just wandered but lets just say today’s track will have you floating through space if you truly let it. The track is called “Forever Loving Jah” but this is actually a super dubbed out remix version that can’t get ANY more relaxing. Although the original is pretty chill as well. Check out the track and chill….

Lloyd, Lil Wayne & Andre 3000 - Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)

Lloyd, the singer/songewriter, is set to release his fourth studio album entitled King of Hearts. And, he has enlisted the talents of Andre 3000 and Lil Wayne to help him with the latest leak from the album. The track is called “Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)”. Lil Wayne starts out the track with a little narration that goes on to explain…well listen to the track. The album is set to be released on July 5th. Enjoy, zip it up and zip it out.

YONAS – A Reason To Breathe (Download)

Here's a new track from YONAS, just shortly after the release of The Proven Theory and I'm loving "A Reason To Breathe." Amazing how you can come out with an album and you're still on it, making new tracks that sound as great as this.

CLAMS CASINO | I’m God (Instrumental)

One of the more creative left-field hip-hop figures to surface during the late 2000s/early 2010s, New Jersey-based producer Clams Casino landed his first collaboration after contacting the Pack’s Lil B via MySpace. The MC proceeded to use several Clams Casino productions, all of which were trippy, wistful, and strangely emotive, for the likes of “Realist Alive,” “Motivation,” and “I’m God” (the latter of which was also used by Soulja Boy for “2 Milli”). Clams’ profile gradually raised as word got out that he was the one behind these tracks, as well as material by Main Attrakionz, Main Attrakionz’s Squadda Bambino, and Mobb Deep’s Havoc.

Let’s get this straight, this is a guy making beats like any other genius sitting at home. This track was produced as an instrumental for “Lil B - I’m God” but to be honest, I dig the instrumental waaay more than the original song itself. Kind of perfect for a car riding summer vibe because it’s slow and it samples the lovely vocals from Imogen Heap.

Oh you know just riding with your girl down the long road into the sunset. That’s what I’m feeling. Once you listen to this, I bet you can’t get enough. I kid you not.

Blithe Field - Crushing

Blithe Field is the ongoing project of 19 year old, Spencer Radcliffe. His new LP ‘Two Hearted’ is the euphoric organization of field recordings, clean cut samples, acoustic guitar, and a slew of beautifully deconstructed sounds being pieced back together kaleidoscopically.

Sapient - Grown Up (2011)

Sandpeople member Sapient releases some visuals for his track “Grown Up” off his latest LP. The Portland emcee’s album Barrels For Feathers is in stores now

Trey Palms – For You

This track titled “For You” was meant to drop sometime next week but due to a hacker that leaked the song, its out now. The beat, which samples Rob Resnick’s mashup of the same name is amazing and Trey kills the rap. Trey’s last few drops have been awesome – look out for his mixtape Not Too Far Away which is set to drop sometime this summer.

OnCue - “Feel Tall”

OnCue dropped the first single “Feel Tall,” off his new mixtape Cant Wait. Cuey uses his in house producer CJ Luzi who is an absolute beast. Coming off the huge underground success of his previous mixtapes, heavily relying on timeless samples, this single and project are major for Cuey.

Headnodic - Turn Your Radio Up feat. Mr. Lif, Gift Of Gab & The Grouch

Producer and bassist Headnodic is a musical time-traveler. His exploration into the furthest reaches of rhythm and melody, from golden era rap to 70's fusion jazz, has inspired an original and profound voice in hip-hop. Whether he's sampling, chopping, and re-constructing breaks, or fluently performing on any number of vintage instruments, the aesthetic of a well seasoned crate-digger is apparent.

His collaborations with many of the most notable names in Indy hip-hop have yielded dynamic results, exhibiting his musical elasticity. Some of these collaborators include, MF Doom, Jr. Gong Damian Marley, Brother Ali, Mr. Lif, Lyrics Born, Ladybug Mecca, DJ Shadow, Tash, People Under The Stairs, Oh No, Chali 2na, Zion I, The Grouch, Casual, Mystic, Sadat X, and Del the Homosapien.

Trained as a bass player at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, it was there that he met the members of what would later become the hip-hop band, Crown City Rockers, (originally called Mission: ). He has furnished the “low-end” for Crown City Rockers for over a decade now and he has produced, recorded, and engineered a bulk of the group's catalog. In 2008, Headnodic joined forces with Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and Lateef the Truth Speaker (Latyrx) to form the indy-hop super group, The Mighty Underdogs (Def Jux / Quannum).

Few tracks for a shuffle-monday

Yann Tiersen

Yann Tiersen (born June 23, 1970 in Brest, Brittany, France) has been honing his musical aesthetic since he could stand on two legs. He started learning piano at the age of four, taking up violin at the age of six and receiving classical training at musical academies in Rennes, Nantes and Boulogne. Then, at the age of 13, he chose to alter his destiny, breaking his violin into pieces, buying a guitar and forming a rock band.

Tiersen got a musical education from the city of Rennes’ annual Transmusicales festival, seeing acts like Nirvana, Einstürzende Neubaten, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The Cramps, Television and Suicide. When his band broke up a few years later, instead of hunting for some new musicians, he bought a cheap mixing desk, an eight-track reel, and started recording music solo with a synth, sampler and drum machine, poring over the grooves of old records on the hunt for loops and orchestral strings to plunder.

As it turned out, though, the key to his new approach lay in his own past. “One day I thought, instead of spending days on research and listening to tons of records to find the nearest sound of what I have in mind, why don’t I fix this fucking violin and use it?” Through the summer of 1993, Tiersen stayed in his apartment, recording music alone with guitar, violin and accordion, guided not by the classical canon, but by intuition and his vision of “a musical anarchy”.

By the end of the summer of 1993, Tiersen had recorded over 40 tracks, which would form the bulk of his first two albums. 1995’s La Valse Des Monstres, inspired by Tod Browning’s Freaks and Yukio Mishima’s The Damask Drum was the second album to be released on Nancy-based label Ici, d’ailleurs. It would be followed six months later by Rue Des Cascades, a collection of short pieces recorded with toy piano, harpsichord, violin, accordion and mandolin. Six years later, the record would find a much larger audience when several tracks, along with a couple of Tiersen originals, would be used on the soundtrack to Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s film Amelie (2001).

Tiersen’s commercial breakthrough would come earlier, though, and off his own back. 1998’s Le Phare (The Light House) was recorded in self-imposed seclusion on the isle of Ouessant, where Tiersen spent two months living in a rented house. At night, he watched the Creach’h, the most powerful lighthouse in Europe, as it illuminated the surrounding scenery. “I was amazed how the rays of lights from the lighthouse revealed some hidden details of the land, how we can rediscover something we have everyday, just in front of us, by a light pointing on it,” says Tiersen.

Le Phare went on to sell over 160,000 copies, confirming Tiersen’s status as one of the most pioneering and original artists of his generation and commencing a run of successful albums like 2001’s L’Absente (featuring orchestral group Synaxis, Lisa Germano and the Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon) and 2005’s Les Retrouvailles (with guests Stuart Staples of Tindersticks, Jane Birkin and Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins). In this period, Tiersen also took his music out around the world, playing shows with a full orchestra and an amplified string quartet – a set-up captured on 2002’s electrifying live album C’etait ici. And following the box-office success of Amelie, Tiersen’s skills as a soundtracker were much in demand, leading to scores for the likes of Wolfgang Becker’s tragicomedy Good Bye Lenin! (2003) and Tabarly (2008), a documentary about the French sailor Éric Tabarly, who ate his final meal on Ouessant Island before he meeting a watery end in the Irish sea.

Yann Tiersen has also collaborated with vocal artists like Claire Pichet (“Le Phare” and “Rue Des Cascades”), Elizabeth Fraser (“Les Retrouvailles”) and Shannon Wright (“Yann Tiersen and Shannon Wright”). Other musicians he has worked with include The Divine Comedy, Noir Désir, dominique A., Francoiz Breut, Les Têtes Raides, The Married Monk and Sage Francis

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (Skeet Skeet Show Edit)

I’ve been rooting for this group for awhile now and I’m glad to see “Pumped Up Kicks” getting some airplay. I’m even more cised to see one of my favorite DJs give their single a fresh ass remix. Skeet Skeet is always creative when it comes to reworking a track. Enjoy!

Barn Owl – Shadowland EP

Barn Owl. The duo from San Francisco truly is a pain in the ass to do research on- I couldn’t even find a band page for them let alone articles that were about them and not the large-eyed aviators of the night. Nevertheless, I searched, I found, and I conquered- because these guys need to be noticed. Guitarists Jon Porras and Evan Caminiti started playing music together after they met in an American Indian science class at San Francisco State in 2005, and released their first album From Our Mouths a Perpetual Light in 2009. They released their latest EP Shadowland on Tuesday. If you took Explosions In The Sky, made them more haunting and added the sound Clint Mansell produced for the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack, you’d end up with Barn Owl. Each song on the EP sounds like something from a movie soundtrack- not to mention their length. The EP is just under 24 minutes long and only has three songs on it- the longest being “Infinite Reach” at 10:51. You can download the EP on iTunes, and I highly suggest it. Check it. Like it. Share it. It’s Barn Owl, here to take you places you’ve never been before.

Memoryhouse

Memoryhouse is the duo of Evan Abeele (composer) and Denise Nouvion (vocals), these two are actually from Toronto, Canada and are making some stand out dreamy shoegaze pop. The band is set to release a re-work of their earlier EP The Years, which will be released by Sub Pop Records in early September.

The release will contain two original tracks and with the leak of Modern, Normal featured below sounding like a lucid dream I am super psyched to hear the rest, so here’s something to mark your calendar to:

Kenton Dunson – Creative Destruction 2 Album - Out Now

So, the time has come for Kenton Dunson to unleash his new album. The album is entitled Creative Destruction 2 and really goes on to showcase what Kenton is capable of.

“Creative Destruction 2 is about more than Kenton Dunson. It’s about life, ambition, heartbreak and most importantly, passion. When I came up with the Creative Destruction concept for the first album, I didn’t think it would turn into a series. But as a developing artist in a saturated music environment, I know it’s important to display what you have as soon as it’s ready. This time around, the term Creative Destruction meant replacing my old creative approach as an artist to build more tangible songs that touched a wider base of listeners while remaining original. I believe I struck a solid balance with Creative Destruction 2. I kept the album short and relevant, there’s no fluff on this project. It’s all self-produced and I was able to include two great features to round out the album. This is my best work to date and the momentum is amazing.”

Benjamin Finger - Unestablished Gossip

The second music video from Benjamin Finger´s debut album "Woods of Broccoli". The track is called "Unestablished Gossip" and represents the second song on the album.

Kev Brown- Albany

I started listening to Kev Brown’s Albany some time ago. I’m pretty sure it was a free download on iTunes or something. Who knows. Long/uninteresting story short… this song makes you feel great. You can’t help but move your head to the beat and listen to the soulful lyrics.

Feel GREAT hip-hop…

Lykke Li – “I Follow Rivers (The Oos & Ahhs Remix)

The Oos & Ahhs strike again with a dark, hard-hitting interpretation of Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers”. The remix takes you on a tumultuous deep sea journey through wobbles, waves, and arpeggiators; a cold reflection of the perilous depths of infatuation.

Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (The Oos & Ahhs Remix) by The Oos & Ahhs

Uno Hype - BaSelord (Official Music Video)

A shortie but a goodie. Check out the new visuals from Uno Hype for "Baselord". There is something about the editing along with the flow of the song that feels right on this one. Crisp to perfection.

New Linen - Pluto

Excellent piece of alternative-hip hop here from the West Chester, PA duo New Linen.

Eric Satie

While it’s important to move forward with music in order to explore new grounds and create new sound that has never been heard before, it is equally important that we consider the past as well. The internet and home computing have given the capability to anyone who owns a computer to become a legitimate musician - there are hundreds of new releases that come out everyday; while I try to help you sort through it all, staying on top of everything is impossible.
As with consumer products, as quantity increases, quality generally decreases.
The same can be said about music, which is why on this site I try to bring you the best of what’s out there. With the influx of so much music it’s easy to forget the past, but some of the past is worth remembering.

The music I bring you today is going way back to the past, the late 1800s to be more specific. The man pictured to your left is named Eric Satie, and if you’ve already heard of him, you’ll know that we can call him the father of ambient and ‘chill’ music. Satie was never accepted to the Paris Conservatoire which he constantly applied to get into, because his piano skills were ‘not good enough.’ Satie’s piano works were considered extremely avant-garde at the time of their creation, but not in a good way; he made no money from music and was in no way popular among his people. His slow paced piano playing was deemed ‘garbage’ by classical elitists and listeners of his time. I once read that the most money Satie ever came across was inheritance from the death of a family member, and the following day, he spent all of it on fourteen identical gray valour suits (from what I gather Satie was a bit of an eccentric fellow). The two songs I’ve included today, Gymnopedie No. 1 and Gnossienne No. 1 have gone on to become some of the most famous classical piano pieces of all time. Satie’s slow, relaxing style has undoubtedly paved the way for the ambient and relaxed electronic and organic music of today.

Trey Palms - GOT THE LOVE ft. Florence & The Machine [Prod. by V10]

Now this is just a sick use of a sample right here. Producer V10 takes Florence + The Machine’s “You Got The Love” and makes an awesome, upbeat hook while Trey lays down some nice bars. This will be off Trey Palms’ upcoming mixtape Not To Far Away which should be dropping sometime soon. The first song I heard from this kid was a remix to The Dreams “Ever Since” and it was straight fire. Check it out below.

Flight Facilities - Crave You (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

Here's the latest from dubstep duo Adventure Club. The track is a take on Flight Facilities hit "Crave You" and it maintains that awesome mellow (yet still powerful and ear-drum blowing) style of dubstep that we've come to love. Their EP will hopefully be out in full effect by the end of this summer. More to come on that though. In the meantime - sit back, relax, and enjoy their smooth rhythmic, optimal material.

Pretty Lights vs Summertime

Plain & simple, Pretty Lights Music are on top of their game right now. Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights just dropped, “Pretty Lights Vs. Summertime,” via Facebook and deemed it the summertime anthem. Nothing short of that, Smith crushes the will smith / Sublime sample. After the debut of his new stage set up at Bonnaroo his tour this year is going to be unstoppable.

Mylo

What to say about this amazing Scottish electronic producer. His first major release, Destroy Rock & Roll, was released back in 2004 which is exactly when I got into him. The release was an instant classic with almost 100% of the tracks, on the album, having what it takes to be released as their own singles. There are no real throw-away tracks on the album. But, I have to narrow it down to one track and today’s track is called “Sunworshipper” which will have you wishing to move on to Eureka, California in pursuit of pure Bliss. You’ll know why once you give it a listen but all I can say this is one of the chillest tracks you’ll come across that doesn’t lull you to sleep. Keeps you interested the whole time. Check out the track and chill….

Grieves

One of my all time favorite hip hop artists is set to release a new album today titled Together Apart on Rhymesayers Entertainment.
It will be his debut album on Rhymesayers who has a roster full of incredibly talented hip hop artists. With the album being producer by Grieves and his longtime friend Budo, you can expect some awesome soulful beats on top of Grieves’ mastermind lyrics.

I can guarantee this album is going to be nothing short of amazing, Grieves past albums were absolutely stunning. Each song is a whole new story of his life that just sucks you in. If your a fan of some real true hip hop, not this shit about rims, jewelry, and how many hoes you got, then you will need this album!

J.Cole

''

Jermaine Lamarr Cole (born January 28, 1985 in Frankfurt, Germany), better known simply as J. Cole, is an American rapper and producer from Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is best known for being the first artist to be signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation after Jay heard his single Lights Please. He released his debut mixtape The Come Up in 2007 and followed this up with 2009’s The Warm Up and 2010’s Friday Night Lights. He is now working on his highly anticipated but yet untitled debut album. Cole has appeared on the cover of The Source and Beyond Race magazines, as well as being featured as one of XXL’s 2010 Freshmen. Cole appeared on Jay-Z’s 2009 album The Blueprint 3, on the track A Star is Born, and is also featured on labelmate Wale’s debut album, Attention Deficit. Most recently, he was touring with Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, and Trey Songz on The Blueprint 3 tour. In January 2010, along with Jay Electronica and Mos Def, he appeared on the first single from the new Reflection Eternal album, Just Begun.

The rap world is at a crossroads. In the face of shrinking budgets, music executives, resting on their laurels, search out the next YouTube sensation with a catchy hook and dance move in order to amass digital single sales. While many artists have tried to break through despite an industry melt down, few have been met with critical praise. And the applause for those that have has not been loud enough to sway the course of the current rap market. Looking to excel where his contemporaries have failed, North Carolina native J. Cole (born Jermaine Cole) brings promise of a new day in hip hop music.Raised by his mother in North Carolina, J. Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville would provide much of the sights and experiences that would come to shape his sound. Cole fell into rapping at the age of 12 when his cousin from Louisiana spent the summer in Fayetteville, showing him the basics of rhyming. He was instantly hooked. From there he delved deep into the music of hip hop luminaries including Tupac Shakur, Nas and Outkast, taking from them a love for telling stories with an unbridled rigor. Seizing every opportunity to write, at age 15 J. Cole found himself with composition notebooks full of rhymes but no beats of his own to lay them on. Determined to create original songs, he begged his mother for a beat machine so he could produce music solely for himself. She granted his wish and from there, a young Cole spent all his free time creating sounds and songs that would lay the foundation for what his style has evolved to today.

Feeling the need to be heard, J. Cole used college as a tool to chase his dreams. He attended St. John’s University on an academic scholarship, choosing the school so that he could be in the heart of the music industry: New York City. After polishing his sound and graduating Magna Cum Laude, J. Cole is dropping his debut mixtape, properly titled “The Come Up” hosted by DJ On Point. A mash up of dusty, soul filled sound beds, raw, energetic drums and an endless range of topics everything from the carefree days of college to the seemingly endless plight of those have-nots scrapping for change. The Come Up puts J. Cole’s broad palette of lyrical and production talents on display. “All a nigga wanna do is take his momma from that, but they rather lock us up and make sure we don’t come back,” he vehemently spits over the cascading keys and triumphant strings of the self produced “Lil’ Ghetto Nigga.”

With such a diverse display, J. Cole is poised to wake up a dormant industry and cement his name in this game. But more than that, with his debut studio album currently in production, he hopes to change the tide of current rap music, swaying it in a more insightful, meaningful and passionate direction.

Macklemore "THE TOWN" Official Music Video

I love raunchy, cliche, radio hip hop as much as the next 17-year old. (Nope) But Macklemore is different. If you enjoy some substantial lyrical nutrition in your ears, you will welcome the thought-provoking, heartfelt and thoroughly tender words of this Seattle native emcee. While Macklemore has been in the local spotlight for a bit, his music is clearly surfacing broader airwaves. I appreciate tracks like “White Privilege” and I raised a good-natured brow at “And We Danced.” But the track to check out is “The Town” — Macklemore’s videos are as vibrant and rich as his flow and you can tell he loves what he does with every fiber of his Irish being.

Hooray For Earth – True Loves (Cereal Spiller Remix)

The remix takes the exciting energy out of the original track and gives it a more ‘chill’ sound that has some glitch hoppy electro layered on top. It even at one point goes as far as to call it dubstep?

Flying Lotus Remixes

Flying Lotus has unleashed a full catalog of amazing remixes via his Soundcloud(which he says he doesn’t like). The releases include remixes of Bjork, Massive Attack, Stereolab and more. Most of the content is unreleased or just hard-to-find but it is all quality. There’s so much content here that its kind of ridiculous but you wouldn’t expect anything less from this genius. I’ll start the post with one of the better tracks which is the Massive Attach remix. Enjoy.

Timbre Timber

Timbre Timber is a haunted folk trio from right here in Canada including members Mika Posen, Simon Trottier and Taylor Kirk. The name Timbre Timber refers to some earlier recording the band had done in a “Timber” framed cabin outside of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, where is Bobcaygeon, Ontario? Who the hell knows.

The band recently signed to the super awesome Arts & Crafts label in January of “09, which in my eyes any indie act would give their right kidney for, if you are unaware of this Canadian label than you may be aware of names like Broken Social Scene, Feist, and one of my personal favorites The Most Serene Republic (Listen to Underwater Cinematography) who are on that same label! But aside from the label Timbre Timber has just released a really creepy beautifully done video for their ground breaker “Black Water” featuring a decaying diver and some cool fish, way to go!

Here’s the vid and some goodies from their newest album “Creep on Creepin on” digg it/buy it/see them play and all that:

Kenton Dunson – “Firestarter” (Feat. Ryan Kellie)

Kenton Dunson has decided that 2011 would be the year that he would bless the masses with his talents because he’s already put out quite a few instant hits thus far. I started out by posting about his remix of the Adele/John Legend “Rolling in the Deep” track and his popularity has already exploded from there. Now, he’s set to release his new album, entitled Creative Destruction 2, that will showcase his true artistic ability when he dabbles in the production and vocals of his tracks. He’s released a new track called “Firestarter” which also features Ryan Kellie. She is pretty well established singer/songwriter who has done her fair share of touring the Nashville music scene. Check out the new track and keep a lookout for Creative Destruction 2 which I will be posting as soon as it drops. Stay tuned and enjoy.

Firestarter Feat. Ryan Kellie by Kenton Dunson

Kenton Dunson about the track:

"I was always intrigued by the term "Firestarter"... ever since I heard that Prodigy record in the 90's. The term actually meant something to me after I dated a serial heart breaker. She was blazing a mean trail! Eventually she must have realized her faults because she later apologized saying she didn't mean any harm but honestly, when does that ever help? I'm actually good friends with her today so my goal is not to put that individual on blast but as you progress as a songwriter, you absolutely must allow yourself to express true emotion whether the subject is sensitive or not. I wrote this song very quick starting at the piano and sang the hook in falsetto...enter Ryan Kellie! She's an amazing singer/songwriter who spent a lot of time on the Nashville music scene. I wrote piano parts to a few of her songs in progress so we have a natural working relationship that turned out perfectly on this track!"

Purity Ring (really deserves a repost)

Old news maybe, but If you haven’t heard the debut track ‘Lofticries‘ you are in for one hell of a surprise, the song is definitely scoring high on my amaze-o-meter, so please sit down vibe out and enjoy your rainy thursday night. :)

This video was made by David Dean Burkhart and it features scenes from the 1974 Swedish film entitled Thriller: A Cruel Picture which, supposedly, is one of the inspiration for the movie Kill Bill. I haven’t seen this original film but it definitely looks pretty intense. Check out the video below.

And one more:

Shuffling the night away..

Oh and check out the new promoe video for Grieves upcoming album "Together/Apart" feat "Sunnyside of Hell"

Looks promising.

Release date: June 21st.

Fuck Yeah! Mord Fustang ladies and gentleman, Mord Fustang. God does he manage to kill it. Every single track is like listening to a song from gods ipod. He’s most recent hit is called A New World and it’s certainly not from this one. No one in this world could make a song so electro steppy and glitchy yet bring it back together with the signature Mord sounds. Enjoy the preview readers. I sure as hell did.

ELZHI ELmatic "It Aint Hard To Tell " VIDEO

Elzhi recently released his Elmatic mixtape which instantly took everything by surprise. And, the surprise wasn’t how good of an MC Elmatic was but more along the fact that he did justice to one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. Obviously Nas was a huge influence on Elzhi’s hip-hop career but taking on Illmatic could and should be a daunting task. And Elzhi easily delivered with deep street rhymes that will have you finding new things during every listen. Now, he”s back and released a video for his “It Aint Hard to Tell” remix. If you haven’t listened to the mixtape; hopefully video makes you look into checking it out. Enjoy.
